Moore Kismet

BIOGRAPHIE

Moore Kismet is in a league of their own as one of the most influential leaders of the next generation of up-and-coming electronic music musicians. Omar Davis, a non-binary and pansexual musical genius who was born in Southern California, has become a champion for LGBTQ+ teenagers and exemplifies the joy of being able to be who you are. Davis is 17 years old. Moore Kismet is the youngest artist to play at Lollapalooza and EDC Las Vegas in 2021, and he has been listed on Billboard’s annual list of the top 21 artists under the age of 21 for the last two years in a row (2020, 2021). Moore Kismet exemplifies how to stand out from the crowd by being unabashedly one’s own self.

Moore Kismet is an electronic artist living in California who creates music that is a glittering and highly detailed combination of melodic bass music and atmospheric trap music. His work is inspired by dubstep, trance, and house, among other genres. After beginning their recording career at the age of 13, the composer, DJ, visual artist, screenwriter, and voice actor, who was born Omar Davis, immediately earned recognition across the electronic dance music scene for their creative, imaginative, and expressive works.

Releases such as the 2020 EP Revenge of the Unicorns are impacted by their path coming out as non-binary and pansexual, and representation has been a consistent topic throughout their work. They are also collaborating with the development of Stargazers, an animated series featuring a mostly LGBTQ+ cast and crew. Moore Kismet’s full-length debut, 2022’s Universe, was preceded by the publication of two extended plays (EPs) in 2021 titled Vendetta for Cupid and Flourish.

Davis was born in the latter part of 2004 to musically talented parents; his mother had previously been a member of an R&B girl group but left the group in order to focus on being a full-time mother to Davis. At the age of seven, they started dabbling in music creation, drawing inspiration from trance and house musicians like as Above & Beyond and Calvin Harris. They continued to create new music on a daily basis, and some of their early releases, such as the demo album Trials, were made available online in 2018.

Moore Kismet was given a record deal by the British label Never Say Die in 2019, which resulted in the release of their Character EP as well as many singles. Moore Kismet had their first live show in April at the Asteria Arts & Music Festival in Florida. After coming out to the public, the band members received homophobic, transphobic, racist, and ageist comments, which inspired them to write the Revenge of the Unicorns track for their upcoming EP in 2020.

On the EP was a song called “Flair,” which Davis’ mother, who goes by the name Momma Kismet, helped to create. Throughout the course of the year, many further singles were released, some of which were “Beauty Is a Facade” and “You Should Run” (which featured Pauline Herr).

Moore Kismet made their debut with their self-produced vocals on the EP Vendetta for Cupid, which was published in 2021 after the band had signed with Thrive Records. Another EP, titled Flourish, had collaborations with musicians such as torr and Laxcity, among others. Near the end of the year, the show “Call of the Unicorn,” starring Tasha Baxter, debuted on television. At the beginning of 2022, the single “Parallel Heartbreak,” which featured Pauline Herr and was influenced by R&B music, was made available.

After that, Moore Kismet worked on the song “Hold Up” alongside Whipped Cream, Big Freedia, and UNiiQU3, among other artists. Moore Kismet’s first studio album, titled UNIVERSE, was published in June. It had a few songs that had been previously released, in addition to extra tracks that featured collaborations with Courtney Paige Nelson, Lunamatic, TYGKO, and other artists. The year was finished off with the subsequent single “Forte.”

In January of 2022, Moore Kismet released their single co-written with Tate McRae, “Parallel Heartbreak,” featuring vocals by Pauline Herr. The single will be part of Moore Kismet’s debut album, UNIVERSE, due this June and will feature a handful of collaborations with notable artists. Along with an arsenal of upcoming music, the new year will see Moore Kismet expand their worldwide presence with a European tour, including performances at Lollapalooza Paris. Soon to be on a global scale, Moore Kismet is moving the needle — there’s simply no one like Omar.
